Understanding Fine Fireclay
Fine fireclay is a type of ceramic material that is used to make sinks. It is made by mixing clay, feldspar, and quartz and firing it at a high temperature (usually around 1200 degrees Celsius) in a kiln. This process gives the material a hard, durable, and non-porous surface that is resistant to stains, scratches, and heat.
To prevent fragile glasses from breaking in a fine fireclay sink, you can take the following steps:
Use a silicone sink mat or a stainless-steel protector grid in the bottom of the sink to cushion the glasses and protect them from sharp edges or hard surfaces.
Avoid stacking glasses too closely together in the sink, as this can cause them to bump against each other and potentially break.
Be careful not to drop or slam the glasses into the sink, as this can cause them to break.
It's always a good idea to double-check that the grid or silicone mat you are buying is compatible with your sink and the size fits properly, to ensure the best protection.
