BACKGROUND
Nestled amongst the lush tree canopies of Byron Bay’s hinterland, The Stables at Ewingsdale was reimagined as a warm and welcoming farmhouse retreat designed for modern family living. This special renovation project saw the homeowners return to work with the interior design team after previously collaborating on their business property, The Cape Beach House - creating a deeply personal and trusted partnership throughout the design journey.

Originally the family home where their three boys were raised, the property featured dark timbers, enclosed spaces and dated finishes. The renovation completely transformed the home, opening the layout and rebuilding every space from the ground up to better suit the evolving needs of a growing family now centred around entertaining, relaxation and spending time together with grandchildren.

The extensive renovation included three bedrooms, bathrooms, laundry, media room, kitchen, dining and exterior spaces - all thoughtfully redesigned to embrace a timeless farmhouse aesthetic with layered textures, warm neutrals and inviting finishes.

Designed as the heart of the home, the kitchen balances functionality with timeless country charm. Classic shaker cabinetry, aged brass tapware and soft neutral tones were carefully selected to create a relaxed farmhouse feel that felt both refined and welcoming.

Warm materials, natural textures and thoughtful spatial planning have transformed the once dark and enclosed home into an inviting sanctuary designed for gathering and entertaining.
