BACKGROUND
Designed by Blue Mountains Interior Designer Hannah of HDR Interior Design. The existing kitchen layout was U-shaped with laminate cabinetry, a high back on the bench area cutting it off to the adjoining lounge, minimal storage (none overhead), and an awkwardly spread-out footprint.

The new design focussed on increasing the family’s day to day functionality with entertaining in mind. The design style works in a blend of classic/traditional with modern elements to compliment the homes architectural details but also the young family who live there. The design uses symmetry and scale to balance out the space, creating a sense of classic elegance.

The large central Island allows flow throughout the space, additional storage, and ample space for people to gather and sit. A deep aperture in an adjoining wall provided adequate space for a large French-door fridge/freezer. Accentuating the rooms high ceilings was achieved by adding overhead cabinetry and a statement centred rangehood design. The kitchen now hosts a larger oven, more bench space (some of which was dedicated to a coffee station), larger pantry and storage space, better access, and suitability for many to work in the space at once. A favourite feature was the Turner Hastings butler sink and Brodware kitchen tap, sitting proudly together under the large antique style stain glass window.

The kitchen also features Caesarstone Noble Grey bench tops, cabinetry in Dulux Vivid White, with black Momo handles and Tradco Knobs.
