BACKGROUND
This serene weekender home has been created by Interior Designer Graham Simmonds of Gray & Co. Gray & Co is a celebrated Sydney Interior Design and retailer with his own concept store now open in Potts Point, NSW.

The Southern Highlands is a sought after destination for weekend getaways, particularly for those wishing to escape the hustle & bustle of the city during the working week. Close enough to the city, within 90 minutes but just far enough to relax and unwind.

The home located in Moss Vale, has been in the process of renovating since 2020 with covid related delays slowing down the progress, but it certainly has been worth the wait. The renovation saw the home stripped back to the studs and a reworking of the home layout by Graham, the home became a open plan four bedroom and three and a half bathroom getaway oasis.

The home oozes warmth with a sense of being a Modern Farmhouse on a 2500 square metre property, in the country. Mixing old and new, vintage furnishing with modern conveniences Graham has created a cosy home full of character. Throughout the home he has combined classic style features such as classic board and batten details, warm timbers, brass fittings, a variety of textures throughout the furniture and décor.

“We did buy some new things, but we did really want to include a lot of vintage pieces” Graham Simmonds, Gray and Co.

In the kitchen, the marble benchtop and brass fixtures are all modern touches with the contrast of a country style farmhouse sink, which is a Turner Hastings Patri 60 Butler Sink.

In contrast to the warm timbers of the kitchen, the laundry is a nod to the modern design of the home, which creates a balance between modern and country. With a black stone bench top, black cabinetry and an undermount matte black Cuisine 46 sink, also by Turner Hastings. The addition of a vintage painting and greenery, this is a calm and inviting space but also functional to do the laundry.

The bathroom is simplistic with a marble top vanity, wall batten treatment and a classic style toilet, the Turner Hastings Hartley Close Coupled Back to Wall Toilet Suite.
