Mediterranean Influence Meets Contemporary Coastal Living
Set in Sydney’s Bondi Beach, this remarkable residence by Handelsmann + Khaw brings Mediterranean influence together with a warm, contemporary Australian sensibility.
Designed as a layered family home, the interiors balance a sense of grandeur with quieter, more intimate spaces. Arched forms, sculptural curves and a richly textured material palette create continuity throughout, resulting in a home that feels both sophisticated and relaxed.
Within the master ensuite, the Turner Hastings Kirkham TitanCast Freestanding Bath becomes a natural extension of this design language. Its distinctive bateau silhouette and elegant curves introduce a sculptural focal point while complementing the softness of the surrounding architecture.
BACKGROUND
Spanning more than 500 square metres, the Bondi Beach Villa was conceived as an expansive family residence designed for both everyday living and entertaining.
Interior design by Handelsmann + Khaw and architecture by Common Office come together through a considered sequence of spaces, with five bedrooms, six bathrooms, generous entertaining areas and dedicated wellness spaces including a sauna and cold plunge. A rooftop bar overlooking the coastline further connects the home to its iconic Bondi Beach setting.
Throughout the residence, repeated arches and curved forms soften the scale of the architecture, while natural materials, warm tones and carefully selected finishes bring depth and character to the interiors. The result is a contemporary coastal home with subtle Mediterranean references rather than a literal interpretation of the style.
SOLUTIONS
The Turner Hastings Kirkham TitanCast Freestanding Bath was selected for the master ensuite, where its sculptural form complements the curves and classical influences seen throughout the residence.
With its elegant bateau silhouette and gently rolled profile, the Kirkham brings a sense of timelessness to the bathroom while sitting comfortably within the home’s contemporary design language. Its freestanding form creates a strong focal point without overwhelming the calm, restrained interior.
Crafted from TitanCast Solid Surface, the bath combines its distinctive form with the practical qualities required for everyday use, including a smooth, non-porous surface and excellent heat retention.
The result is a bathing space that feels considered and immersive — connecting the traditional character of the Kirkham with the relaxed sophistication of its coastal setting.
